He says he's your friend, the friend of the common man. I first saw Dave a few years back at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park in a small tent, or as Dave put it that day, "the big time". It was the Guinness Beer Festival(very appropriate) and Dave and the Guilty Men played their asses off for a small noisy crowd. Dave Alvin, the kid from Downey, singing his songs to and for the common man. Quick fry cook, songwriter, guitar player, union man, singer, grammy winner and poet. Thanks Dave, for all the fun times and soulful music; and for helping us all dream. Hometown boy forever.
Thanks go to Billy Davis of the Blasters Newsletter for his friendship and invaluable help in developing this site. Most of all though, "thanks Billy" for keeping the legacy of the Blasters and their music alive. Special thanks to Craig Frischkorn who got me started on this obsession. Tom Sagehorn, Dick Hirthe, Glenn Steinkamp, Terry Ruddy, John Hyson, Godfrey Smart, Tim McGowan, Kevin Palo, Dennis Blanchard, Bryan Briggs, Mike and Karen Chrzan...what can I say, your contributions to the archives have been essential, without you this site would not exist...thanks for sharing the music. Lele, grazie, grazie, grazie.
And thanks to Los Lobos archivist Dan Gale for webpage guidance and support.
